INDIGO – East-Bavarian Internet and Digitalisation Network

Within the East-Bavarian Internet and Digitalisation Network (INDIGO), six East-Bavarian higher education institutions bundle their competences in the area of internet and digitalisation. In this area, INDIGO promotes interdisciplinary research across universities as well as knowledge and technology transfer. The INDIGO consortium currently maintains six competence clusters representing a wide spectrum of academic disciplines and specialist competencies existing at the participating higher education institutions. Ultimately, the aims of the INDIGO Network are to strengthen the East-Bavarian region as a place of science and business and to be a reliable partner for civil society, businesses and political organisations on their path to tomorrow’s internet and global digitalisation.

Research

The East-Bavarian Internet and Digitalisation Network (INDIGO) promotes and engages in applied and basic research in the area of internet and digitalisation. More than 210 academics from various disciplines and higher education institutions conduct research on technology and in the natural sciences, as well as on issues related to business and economics, law, humanities, life sciences and social science.

Knowledge transfer

One aim of INDIGO is the promotion of bidirectional knowledge and technology transfer between academic institutions on the one hand and business, political and social organisations on the other. The regional focus is on Eastern Bavaria and on co-operating with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are supported with targeted advice and joint R&D projects on the digital transformation.
