Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments Clusters of Excellence funding line

This morning the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) announced the decision of the international panel of experts on the draft proposals submitted in the Cluster of Excellence funding line of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. The University of Passau submitted the Cluster of Excellence "Cyber<>Spaces: Discourse, Co-creation and Institutions in the Age of Digitisation".

A total of 195 initiatives were submitted. Unfortunately, we were not amongst the group of applicants who were invited by the DFG to, submit a full application.

The University of Passau can nonetheless be very proud of the fact that we are one of the universities that was able to combine all of its strengths for participation in the Excellence Strategy. I am also convinced of the scientific significance of "Cyber<>Spaces", and we will now make every effort to use the results of the application for new projects, such as for special research areas or research training groups.

I would like to sincerely thank all staff members and colleagues who contributed to the creation of the draft proposal for "Cyber<>Spaces", which has significantly advanced our ability to mount large-scale projects and demonstrated our potential.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Carola Jungwirth
President of the University of Passau
