Accreditation

Accreditation

Why is accreditation necessary?

The purpose of accreditation is to safeguard and bring about improvements in the quality of courses offered, as well as the student experience. This is done by setting minimum standards and using them to carry out pre-defined accreditation procedures. This gives all stakeholders – students, employers and the higher education institutions themselves – a reliable measurement of the quality of the courses of study offered and ultimately enhances transparency. The accreditation procedures are also intended to enhance student mobility and improve comparability and recognition of university qualifications across national borders.

The faculties act as the co-ordinating instances for individual courses of study.
