Hier werden Karrieren gemacht! |
Directly in the middle of EuropeWith the enlargement of the EU, Passau has moved from the fringes to the centre of Europe. By looking ahead, the university, when it was founded, was given an international profile and has since initiated numerous partnerships with universities in other countries, so that the active participation of Passau students in foreign schemes is purposefully fostered.
Students can choose from 170 university partnerships for one or more semesters in another country. In some places they can even complete a double diploma course.
In Budapest, Krasnoyarsk and Moscow professors from the University of Passau offer courses in German which are very popular with the foreign students who attend them and with future employers.
The first place to go to for all Passau and international students with questions about studying in another country or studying in Passau, is the Akademisches Auslandsamt (international student office). Tips and concrete help in the planning of study abroad can also be given by the Auslandstutoren (international tutors) in their own workshops and office hours. Well-prepared then, more than half of the Passau students go abroad for a short time to study or do work experience.
This intensive international activity can be explained by the course options and the career profiles which are offered at the university. Lawyers, economists and other students can also complete subject-oriented foreign-language training. Foreign languages and a stay abroad are even essential components in the international course BA European Studies and BA International Cultural and Business Studies.
The 500 or so fellow-students who return from abroad every year have a dynamic effect on the students ‘at home’ and this can be sensed throughout the university. Togehter with the many foreign students - they comprise twelve per cent of the Passau students - and the many international students initiatives, they contribute to the open-minded flair of the university.
