Double degree programme Multi-level Governance – International Relations/Governance and Public Policy

This double master's programme deals with the connections between politics, business and law by analysing complex multi-level systems. As analyses of these complicated, intertwined structures will become increasingly important over time in all three sub-disciplines, this double master's programme provides the relevant groundwork. The international remit of the double degree programme is intended to acquaint students with the regional and national idiosyncrasies, which shape the kind of pluralism prevalent in Europe, while the cross-disciplinary nature of the programme enables students to analyse political decisions taken in complex multi-level systems from a number of different vantage points and to think about new ways to promote citizens' participation in political processes.

The joint programme combines the expertise in European politics of Andrássy University Budapest and the University of Passau, thus conveying state theory knowledge and methodological foundations on the one hand and practical competences in domestic, European and foreign policy on the other.

To obtain a place on the double master's programme 'Multi-level Governance – International Relations/Governance and Public Policy' you have to successfully complete a two-step application procedure: first for the M.A. Governance and Public Policy and subsequently the selection process for this double degree programme.

1) The application process

In order to apply for the double degree programme you should first apply for the corresponding master's programme at only one of the two universities. If you are admitted, this is recognised by the other university.

Applicants who wish to apply for the double master's programme at the University of Passau have to also enrol for the regular M.A. Governance and Public Policy programme at Passau.

2) How to apply for the double master's programme

A separate candidate selection is carried out for the double master's programme. In all, eight places are available per calendar year. It is absolutely necessary that you submit a paper-based application for admission to the double master's programme (e.g. by post or courier service) to the Jean-Monnet Chair of European Politics at the University of Passau in addition to your application for a place on the M.A. Governance and Public Policy programme. Your application should include:

• Your prior degree certificate and transcript (simple copy).
• Your chronological curriculum vitae.
• A cover letter (one A4 page in length), in which you indicate why you believe you are particularly well-suited for this degree programme in terms of qualification and personal aptitude.

All documents for the selection process must be submitted simultaneously before the application deadline for the M.A. Governance and Public Policy programme (date of postmark). You will receive an official notice of the result of your application within four weeks of the application deadline.

3) How to enrol in the double master's programme

If you have been offered a place on the double master's programme, you must be a regularly enrolled student at both universities for the entire duration of the programme.

During the first years, which you will spend at the University of Passau, you will pay the same semester contribution as all other regular students. You will also have to pay an administrative fee to Andrássy University Budapest. Throughout the duration of your studies at Andrássy University Budapest you will have to pay their regular student fees (895 euros per semester plus 64 euros administrative fee – figures as at April 2018). At the University of Passau, you will pay only the semester contribution. You may apply for scholarships and funding opportunities offered by Andrássy University Budapest to help with the student fees.
