DESCRIPTION:Research profile:\n\nDr. Garczewska’s research lies at the in
 tersection of law, media studies, and popular culture, with a strong empha
 sis on interdisciplinary inquiry.\n\n\n\nCurrent research focus: \n\nThe c
 entral focus of her current research is the legal and semiotic analysis of
  anti–violence against women (anti-VAW) campaigns. She examines how soci
 al justice issues are framed, communicated, and disseminated through media
 .\n\n\n\nResearch project at the University of Passau:\n\nAt the Chair of 
 English Language and Culture, Dr. Garczewska will pursue a research projec
 t on Media Campaigns Addressing Violence Against Women.\n\nViolence agains
 t women and girls (VAW) remains a widespread issue in many countries. Amon
 g the various strategies employed to combat such violence, social campaign
 s play a crucial role in raising awareness and promoting prevention. These
  campaigns are designed not only to address the immediate consequences of 
 violence but also to foster long-term societal change in attitudes and beh
 aviours. They provide practical guidance on how individuals and communitie
 s can support victims,\n\nwhile also encouraging active participation in c
 ollective efforts to prevent and reduce violence.\n\nBy conducting a multi
 modal analysis of anti-VAW campaigns, this research seeks to deconstruct t
 he communicative modes involved and explore their functions and interactio
 ns, thereby gaining insight into how meaning is produced across different 
 modes of communication. In doing so, it aims to\n\ncontribute to the devel
 opment of more effective, inclusive, and socially responsible campaign str
 ategies.
