The University of Passau was ranked in the 201–251 group out of 1,258 universities and is thus among the top 20%. In Germany, the Univeristy attained 26th place out of 47.
The prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings are among the most comprehensive league tables in the world. More than 1,250 universities around the globe participate in this direct comparison, which is carried out on the basis of bibliometric analyses, surveys and other statistical data. In 2018, the University of Passau took part in these rankings for the first time and was found to be among the best 25% of worldwide universities; the Univeristy rose in rank in 2019 and is now among the best 20%.
In the THE Rankings, the participating universities are compared in their core competencies of research, teaching, knowledge transfer and international outlook. Points are allocated for a set of 13 different indicators, which allow THE to create a comprehensive league table.
World University Ranking 2019
The University of Passau attained a place in the 201–251 group out of 1,103 tested universities, making it one of the best 25%. In the German comparison, the University was placed 21st of 46 participating universities.
Furthermore, Computer Science was placed in the 151–175 group of 952 computer science departments, putting it among the best 20% of computer science departments worldwide.
In the latest THE Subject Ranking for Computer Science the University of Passau attained a place in the 151–175 group out of a total of 684 participating departments.
As an absolute newcomer, the University of Passau made it into the best 250 'young' universities under 50, attaining 27th place.
