The tenure track programme is supposed to help make career paths in the academic world more transparent and easier to plan. The federal government will allocate 1 billion euros starting in 2017 and 2019 in order to fund 500 additional tenure track professors in each round.
This result coincides with our expectations and gives us time to discuss the application and the associated staff development concept on an ever broader level so we will be better positioned to participate in the second round of funding. Nonetheless, it was, politically speaking, reasonable and necessary to file this application in order to clearly illustrate the University of Passau’s intense efforts in the contest for the best researchers.
I would like to give my heartfelt thanks for the commitment of all the employees and colleagues who helped prepare the application and who thereby made an important contribution to further developing the promotion of young academics at the University of Passau. This includes, among other things, the guidelines on conditions of employment and qualification for young academics, which we adopted in 2017.
Yours sincerely,
Professor Carola Jungwirth
President of the University if Passau
