The University of Passau wants to help you stay healthy during your studies. On this page, you can find out what advice and support is available to you.

The Psychological-Psychotherapeutic Counselling Service offers individual counselling sessions and support to students enrolled at the University of Passau. It tries to facilitate your integration into university life, helps you to cope with the rigours of academic study and advises you on all personal, family and performance-related problems.
Studying often brings many changes with it - new city, new friends, new apartment, a new role as a student and a new way of learning. All of these are nice challenges - but as an international student you quickly feel overwhelmed. The team of psychological counselling at the Studentenwerk (Student Services Association Niederbayern/Oberpfalz) has an open ear for your small and large concerns and supports you professionally and confidentially.

- Free short and medium-term individual psychological counselling

- for all types of crises and stresses - at university or in private life
- for all types of psychological symptoms such as (exam) anxiety, depression, addiction, loneliness or disorientation
- Referrals to other services and help with finding therapy places
- Study skills advice

The University of Passau supports students with developing the skills to self-manage their wellbeing. This helps students to master their studies both healthily and successfully and provides them with valuable skills for their subsequent professional life.
The Centre for Careers and Competencies (ZKK) offers several seminars which focus primarily on time management, coping techniques for stressful times, and mindfulness.

"Kopfsache - Ausgeglichen durchs Jurastudium" is a student group which aims to address mental health issues among law students.
We are all law students in different semesters at the University of Passau or have already mastered the first state exam. Therefore, we can very well relate to your fears and negative feelings - especially in times of the pandemic - or have gone through them ourselves.

Passau Nightline: We are a nightly helpline, run for students, by students. Sometimes, talking to a neutral listener can be relieving, and that is what we're here for. Our main objective is building a completely anonymous, non-directive safe space for you, where we can listen to whatever is weighing you down, strictly confidentially, and without judgement or pressure. You don't have to tell us your name and can remain as anonymous as you want to.
