Knowledge and technology transfer in the southern Bohemian and Lower Bavarian region: Science meets Business
What do businesses need? What motivates society? The universities of Passau and České Budějovice are working on these questions. By establishing various networking activities, both universities wish to make science usable for business and society.
Driving innovation across the border
Knowledge and technology transfers between universities and businesses help promote innovation and strengthen the competitive edge of a region. This is particularly true of the border region in southern Bohemia and Lower Bavaria, which is dominated by small and medium-sized businesses. However, these exchanges are currently limited, for the most part, to the national context, with very little cross-border transfer.
The project to establish a knowledge and technology transfer in the border region of southern Bohemia and Lower Bavaria, under the leadership of the University of České Budějovice, wishes to change this by strengthening co-operation between the transfer sections of the two universities and creating additional positions. The following measures are intended to encourage exchanges and active co-operation:
- workshops on a number of subjects, research dialogues, fora, conferences, innovation exchanges and other events
- networking programmes such as mutual visits and joint events
- creation and maintenance of an internet portal for knowledge and technology transfer
To set the stage for these events, an analysis is conducted both on the knowledge bases of both universities and the requirements of business and society. In addition to research centres, the project will also include business associations, political actors and councils in Lower Bavaria and Southern Bohemia.
