Composition of the representative council
The Representative Council for Academic and Artistic Staff consists of the faculty councils as well as one senator and one deputy senator. In addition, the Representative Council sends out members to various committees and elects a spokesperson and two deputies – these are part of the extended university management.
The following diagram shows the composition and role of the individual bodies at different levels of the University (German only).

Art. 36 BayHschG: Representative Council for Academic and Artistic Staff
'An den Universitäten wird ein Konvent der wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen eingerichtet; im Übrigen kann die Grundordnung die Einführung eines Konvents vorsehen.'
A representative council for academic and artistic staff shall be established at the universities; moreover, the basic regulations may provide for the establishment of a convention. (unofficial translation)
§ 14 of the University constitution ('Grundordnung'): Formation of the representative council
(1) Die Vertreter und Vertreterinnen der wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen im Senat und in den Fakultätsräten bilden zur gegenseitigen Information und zur Koordinierung ihrer Arbeit an der Universität den Konvent der wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen.
(2) Der Konvent wählt aus seiner Mitte einen Sprecher oder eine Sprecherin und bis zu zwei Stellvertreter oder Stellvertreterinnen und legt bei der Wahl von zwei Stellvertretern oder Stellvertreterinnen fest, in welcher Reihenfolge sie im Verhinderungsfall die Vertretung ausüben.
(1) The representatives for the academic and art staff in the senate and faculty councils shall form the representative council for academic and artistic staff for the purpose of mutual information and coordination of their work at the university.
(2) The convention shall elect a spokesperson and up to two deputies from among its members and, if two deputies are elected, shall determine the order in which they shall act as deputies if they are prevented from doing so. (unofficial translation)
