In view of the fact that the proportion of women in STEM professions (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is still relatively low, we intend to eliminate the outdated stereotype of a computer scientist and show that women are in no way inferior to men in this field, while also promoting the exchange of ideas and information between IT enthusiasts across all ages.
The University of Passau has launched the Women's Network for Informatics in order to promote a process of exchange between IT enthusiasts of all ages. The goal and task of the network is to bring together interested female students, female computer scientists in the course of their studies, female doctoral candidates and IT professionals from business and academia, and to ensure the regular exchange of information. There are also a whole host of different events on offerm, including discussion rounds on both technical and non-technical topics contributions to the annual Girl’s Day, company tours and training seminars on isses to do with academic work.
