Funding scheme
Horizon 2020 is the eighth framework program for research and innovation of the European Union. It has a term of seven years (2014-2020) and a budget of around EUR 75 billion.Horizon 2020 is dominated by European collaborative research, which enables collaboration across a wide range of partners across all sectors (science, industry, society).
More than 300 stakeholders in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) from research and industry took part in a matchmaking brokerage day on 26 November 2019 in Brussels. Representatives from the European Commission and euRobotics provided information on how to participate in the forthcoming calls on robotics and artificial intelligence.
The event presented the following calls, which are now open since 19 November 2019:
ICT-46-2020: Robotics in Application Areas and Coordination & Support
- Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) - Robotics Core Technology
- Innovation Actions (IA) - Robotics for agri-food, and agile production
- Coordination and Support Action (CSA) – Robotics
ICT-47-2020: Research and Innovation boosting promising robotics applications
ICT-49-2020: Artificial Intelligence on demand platform
DT-ICT-12-2020: AI for the smart hospital of the future
Deadline for proposals
The deadline to submit proposals to these calls is 22 April 2020.
Target group
Legal entities (science, economy and society) established in the Member States of the European Union (EU) and the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) linked to the Member States.
In principle, a research project must involve at least three independent bodies from three different EU Member States or Associated States. In most cases, however, the number of partner institutions in successful project applications is (sometimes far) above this minimum requirement.
For exceptions and additions please see the full text of the individual call.
Thematic focus
Robotics and AI
Project term
There are no specifications regarding the duration of the project. The duration should fit the project (purpose and budget). For exceptions and additions please see the full text of the individual call.
Funding amount
100% of direct costs plus 25% overhead for indirect costs (unless there’s an extra regulation in the individual call)
