news-39515 Wed, 30 Oct 2024 14:33:33 +0100 German courses for refugees – volunteers sought for teaching German https://www.uni-passau.de/en/international/going-abroad/news/news-item/german-courses-for-refugees-volunteers-sought-for-teaching-german For several years, the Protestant Student Community (ESG) student society has been organising free German courses for refugees. Once again this semester, we are seeking students who would like to volunteer as German teachers – regardless of religious belief and teaching experience.

Volunteers are expected to teach approx. two hours a week, with each class consisting of between 5 and 20 students. Instructors can decide whether to teach on their own or in teams of two or three. Classes are due to start on 11 November 2024.

news-38703 Tue, 25 Jun 2024 14:29:27 +0200 EU TalentOn 2024: European Union Contest for early-career researchers https://www.uni-passau.de/en/international/going-abroad/news/news-item/eu-talenton-2024-wettbewerb-der-europaeischen-union-fuer-nachwuchswissenschaftler The University of Silesia and  the European Comission has the honor to invite scientists to participate in the EU TalentOn 2024 European Union Contest for early-career researchers. The contest is funded by the European Union from the Horizon Europe programme and will be the flagship event as a part of the celebration of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.

Recruitment for the competition is ongoing!

EU TalentOn 2024 is a competition for young scientists (21-35 years old) from European countries and countries associated with the Horizon Europe Programme. The idea is to encourage you to propose new, creative solutions to the world's most pressing problems.

About 125 participants will work in 3/4/5-person groups to create a proposal in one of 5 scientific areas (which correspond to the 5 EU Missions in Horizon Europe and are called the 5 Mission Arenas). The proposals need to be scientific, creative, feasible, and convincing: the idea is to encourage a flow of fresh, interdisciplinary ideas, including input from all areas of science and humanities.

5 Mission Arenas:

  1. Adaptation to Climate Change
  2. Cancer Prevention and Care
  3. Restore our Ocean and Water
  4. 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities
  5. A Soil Deal for Europe

The total value of the prizes is 75 000 EUR.

news-37288 Wed, 24 Jan 2024 12:06:06 +0100 Delays in the processing of bursaries for international internships (ZKK) https://www.uni-passau.de/en/international/going-abroad/news/news-item/delays-in-the-processing-of-bursaries-for-international-internships-zkk Due to a vacancy in the department for bursaries for international internships at the Centre for Career and Competencies, there is currently a considerable backlog in the processing of applications. Please note that only applications submitted by the respective deadline (6 weeks prior to start of internship) will be processed. Please also make sure that the documents you submit are complete. The current staffing situation may also lead to delays in other ZKK departments.

Except in very urgent cases, kindly refrain from making any further enquiries by e-mail or telephone. As to pending applications, we ask you to be patient and not to contact us regarding the processing status. All applications and inquiries will be duly processed over time. news-36899 Wed, 06 Dec 2023 11:21:56 +0100 Charity World Wide Winter Market 2023 https://www.uni-passau.de/en/international/going-abroad/news/news-item/charity-world-wide-winter-market-2023 The "All You Can Do" volunteer team from International Support Services and the Protestant Student Community (ESG) are organising the "Charity World Wide Winter Market" with the help of numerous student societies. The event will take place from 17:00 to 22:00 on 15 December in the rooms of the Gmoa and KSG as well as in the inner courtyard of the Nikolakloster. There will be finger food from all over the world, hot drinks, live music, dancing and many other activities. Also integrated into the Winter Market is the International Christmas Night organised by the SoBi and GeKu student committees. The proceeds of the event go to the aid organisation "Brot für die Welt" (Bread for the World).
