Last week, Gremary Aza took part in the 7th Annual Meeting of the Research Network on Economic Experiments for the Common Agricultural Policy (REECAP), hosted by the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle–Jena–Leipzig in Leipzig, Germany.
During the event, Gremary presented the preliminary results of the ongoing research project in Costa Rica, titled: "Farmers' Preferences for Alternative Animal Feed: Evidence for Developing a Regional Circular Bioeconomy." Her presentation explored key factors influencing farmers' decision-making on bioeconomy animal feed alternatives, focusing on the potential use of pineapple leaf silage and insect-based protein in the Huetar Norte region of Costa Rica. This study is being carried out under the supervision of Dr. Terese Venus and in collaboration with the master's student Guadalupe Carcache Fletes. It highlihgts the relevance of economic experiments in understanding farmer behavior and supporting the design of  agricultural policies that promote regional circular bioeconomies. The 7th REECAP Annual meeting served as valuable platform for exchanging ideas and promoting research that contributes to evaluate and improve policies related to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), biodiversity on agricultural landscapes, or related food systems policies in Europe and beyond.
