Ms. Nymphmary Daphne Santiago conducted the first fieldwork in the Philippines from December 2023 to January 2024. Dr. Terese Venus was also present in the first part of the fieldwork. They were accompanied by a local research assistant from the Visayas State University to travel and conduct in-depth interviews with the stakeholders in the pineapple and coconut sectors in Leyte in the Visayas, Davao City, Bukidnon, and South Cotabato in Mindanao. The aim of the qualitative fieldwork was to understand and evaluate the current situation of the tropical fruit sector in the Philippines.
