The Second International Congress for Political Theory will take place at the University of Passau. On the first day of the congress, registration will be held in the Faculty Economics (Innstraße 27, 94032 Passau). The opening panel will then take place in the Audimax building (Innstraße 31, 94032 Passau).
There are several ways to travel to the congress venue. We recommend using public transportation.
Passau can be reached by train or car. Alternatively, arriving via plane is also possible with the closest airports being Munich and Vienna (Austria) and connecting trains to Passau.
For the arrival by train please check train departure/arrival times and book tickets on the Deutsche Bahn website.
Important: Disruption to rail services!
Unfortunately, we have to inform you about ongoing disruption on the railway section to/from Passau. From 14 June until 12 December 2026, the section Obertraubling-Passau will be closed for corridor refurbishment. Regional and long-distance services, including Munich and Regensburg, are affected by the construction. During this period, a comprehensive rail replacement bus service will be provided between Passau and Plattling/Deggendorf/Landau/Landshut. Depending on the stage of construction by the time of your arrival, we kindly ask you to check the timetables yourself. Due to the reliance on buses, the travel time can be significantly longer, please be aware.

For the arrival by car, leave the autobahn A3 at the exit “Passau Mitte” and turn left at the exit’s traffic lights. Follow the road for about one kilometre, then take the first exit right onto Pionierstrasse. Proceed along this road until you reach a T-junction, then turn left onto Neuburgerstrasse. Keep going straight along this street. After about 1.5 kilometres, when you reach the fifth set of traffic lights, turn right onto Leonhard-Paminger-Strasse and keep going until you reach the T-junction, where you should turn left onto Innstrasse. You will see the University buildings come up on your right and left as you continue along Innstrasse. When using navigation, we recommend to use the address of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Information Systems (Innstrasse 27).

Once arrived in Passau, everything is within walking distance!
From the main train station to the university it is only a 10 minute walk. If you prefer to use public transport, the following bus connection is taking you to Uni: Bus 8 & 9 to Kohlbruck/Erlebnisbad PEB will stop at ‘Universität’ for easy access to the Faculty of Economics.

In order to access the WiFi, you should be automatically logged in via eduroam. Eduroam is provided by universities in Europe and even internationally. In case you are already registered, your devices should automatically connect and be online.
If not, you can either access the Bayern WLAN or Campus WiFi without passwords.
Registration is mandatory and will be open from Monday 11:30 AM onwards. Located at the Foyer of the WIWI Faculty, we are happy to check you in at our information desk.
During the entirety of the congress, you will find somebody from our organisation team there. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We are happy to help. Members of our organising team will be identifiable by their orange name tags.
After registration, we invite you to our congress opening at Audimax Hörsal 10. Starting at 12:30 we kindly ask you to be on-side 15 mins early.
The organization team is happily providing coffee and baked goods for the coffee breaks during the congress.
For lunch you can either rely on the Mensa/ Cafeteria or gather up with colleagues and explore the city. You are invited to meet up with us and colleagues for lunch at the University of Passau’s cafeteria.
Located in the building right next door, the cafeteria welcomes students, lecturers and guests, offering a diverse range of meal options from vegan or vegetarian food to dishes including fish or meat.
Additionally, a soup as well as a salad bar is provided, alongside coffee, snacks or sweets in the Cafete.
In regards to payment processes, everywhere on campus one can pay by card. Prices will be in the guest category for the cafeteria meal.
On Monday October 5th at 19:30h we are looking forward to welcoming you at the Heilig-Geist-Stiftsschenke. We would like to invite all active participants of the congress (speaker, chair, panel convenor) to register.
The conference dinner is limited to 180 seats and registration will be under the principle of first come, first serve.
The Organizers invite you for Dinner, please mind that drinks won’t be covered and will be payed for individually.
We kindly ask you to only join the conference dinner with a confirmation of registration. The restaurant is an authentic Bavarian place with traditional dishes.
