To continue using Citavi in 2026, you need a new licence and the latest version, Citavi 7.2. In addition to a revamped user interface, the new version also features new AI functionality. A complete overview of all changes can be found on the Citavi website.

- To update Citavi on your university-issued computer, please install the software distribution package "Citavi 7.2" from ZENworks. Please note that you have to be logged into the university network or use a VPN connection to do so. For VPN access, please read the information on the newly introduced eduVPN application.
- Under Citrix, the Citavi 7.2 update is scheduled for mid-January and will be carried out centrally by the ZIM.
- On privately owned devices (this applies in particular to students), you may install the new version of Citavi yourself. To use Citavi, you must activate the licence for 2026 in your Citavi account. Please visit the Citavi website for details on activating your licence.
