Switch from OpenVPN to eduVPN on 8 January

As of 8 January 2026, the existing OpenVPN service will be discontinued as an access method for the University intranet and will be fully replaced by eduVPN.

The following steps are required for this:

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) must be set up – for information on how to set this up, visit hilfe.uni-passau.de/en/multi-factor-authentication. From January 2026, access to the University intranet will only be possible via eduVPN – this requires MFA.
One-time installation of the eduVPN client
Depending on the operating system used (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.), the appropriate client must be installed. Comprehensive information on this can be found at hilfe.uni-passau.de/eduvpn
