Open vhb course "Understanding and interpreting educational studies and educational reporting"

Drawing the right conclusions from PISA & Co.: the open vhb course "Understanding and interpreting educational studies and educational reporting" teaches how to categorise relevant findings from perennial education monitoring critically and subject them to fair discussion.
Every year, educational studies such as the PISA survey trigger a broad societal discussion about the quality of our schools. Their findings are often complex and serve as a basis for important decisions in educational policy. The open vhb course "Understanding and interpreting educational studies and edcuational reporting" at the University of Passau provides some insights into basic concepts and methods of such educational studies and shows how the right conclusions can be drawn from surveys such as the Education Monitor of the German Economic Institute (IW) and the Bertelsmann Foundation's Chancenspiegel (overview of opportunities). It is aimed at employees and decision-makers in the education system, and also at all the others who are interested in taking part in discussions on educational policy. The on-line course was initiated by Professor Thomas Eckert (LMU) and Professor Maximilian Sailer, holder of the Chair of Educational Science at the University of Passau.
