The project that started in August includes several measures. Firstly, the entrance level will receive a makeover to create new spaces for studying. In addition to that, the foyer and the lending desk will be redesigned to be more functional and appealing. At the same time, the building’s ventilation system will be modernised. The library will remain open during the entire one-year construction phase. The reading room as well as the open access library will still be accessible. The library lounge, too, will be open for use for the most part.
During the first construction phase lasting from August 2017 to February 2018 the foyer will be modernised and the deposit lockers will be replaced with electronic lockers. At the same time, parts of the ventilation system will be modernised.
The second phase begins end of February 2018 as the lending desk and the book retrieval area will be renovated. With the end of the building measures in October 2018, the new ventilation system will also be finished.
As of now, the main entrance has been moved 20 metres to the left towards the refectory. The book retrieval area and the quick reference collections have been moved inside the open access library on the same level as the reading room.
