For the University of Passau, collective bargaining autonomy and the right to strike are protected by the constitution and form an important part of our social and democratic life. We respect the right of the trade union ver.di and its members to defend their legitimate interests through industrial action within the framework of these negotiations. The University of Passau is committed to fair and respectful cooperation and hopes that a swift agreement can be reached as part of the ongoing collective bargaining process.
Despite the warning strike, the University will maintain basic operations on Wednesday, particularly in the areas of research and teaching. Significant disruption to teaching activities is not expected. However, the refectory and cafeterias on campus will be closed on the day of the strike, with the exception of the cafeteria in the Refectory Building, which will open from 8:00 to 15:00. Furthermore, given the time of year, we should also point out that there may be some impact on winter maintenance services.
What does that mean for you as staff members?
If you wish to participate in the strike, please observe the notes on time recording in the excerpt of the industrial action guidelines (“Arbeitskampfrichtlinien”) [German content]. To ensure that your participation in the strike can be properly accounted for in your working time account, please inform your immediate supervisor.
If you do not wish to take part in the strike and intend to work regularly on that day, you are free to do so.
Overall, it must be expected that the services and facilities of both the University and the Student Services Association will not be available to their usual extent on 28 January. Therefore, please schedule any important appointments for another day of the week if possible.
