Part II - January 6th 2021: How militant are modern democracies? – A comparative approach between Germany and the USA
As the second part of our two-part series, Cristina Lloyd J.D. will elaborate on efforts taken to solidify the Electoral System of the United States and consider in general threats to American Democracy. She will provide some insight into the workings of the United States House of Representatives committees by re-examining the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.
Prof. Dr. Fedtke will explore a comparative analysis of the militant elements enshrined in the German as well as the American Constitution, while particularly focusing on Select Committees and how they compare to their German equivalent. This analysis will further consider the event of January 6th, 2021, the investigation thereof and conclude by considering the efficiency of militant elements provided in the respective constitutions.
