What does occupational safety mean for the University of Passau?

The University of Passau is responsible for the implementation of measures to prevent work accidents and occupational illness, for the prevention of work-related health risks and for effective first aid. It shall ensure, through appropriate organisational measures, that everyone is aware of his or her health and safety responsibilities and that effective measures are put in place to prevent work accidents and occupational and work-related illnesses. All staff members of the University of Passau are responsible within the scope of their duties for ensuring that the occupational health and safety measures laid down are observed.

What to do if you discover a fire

If you notice a fire on the premises or in the rooms of the university, keep calm and act according to the following instructions:

1) Report the fire	Use an alarm call point (break glass and push button) and/or call 0-112 (fire brigade/rescue service) 0-110 (police) 0851 509 1232 (University Technical Services) Who is calling? What is the emergency? How many are affected/injured? Where is the fire/emergency? Stay on the phone for further questions!
2) Evacuate the building	Help persons at risk to leave the building Close doors Use the designated escape routes Do not use lifts (elevators) Follow instructions
3) Attempt to extinguish the fire if it is safe to do so	Use the available fire extinguishers, wall hydrants and fire blankets

If you notice an injured person on the University premises, keep calm and act according to the following instructions:

2) First aid measures	Secure the accident site Give aid to injured persons Follow instructions
3) Additional measures	Instruct emergency services upon arrival Ask onlookers to leave the area
