Promoting excellence for female postdoctoral researchers
In addition to professional qualifications, additional skills are becoming increasingly important for a successful career in academia. The Executive Support Unit for Diversity and Gender Equality aims to support female researchers with a PhD at the University of Passau in their career paths by promoting excellence and developing measures to counteract the structural disadvantages faced by women in academia.

Self-Marketing Workshop “Spread Your Science”
Tuesday, November 10, and Wednesday, November 11, 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, with Susanne Geu.
This interactive workshop will take place online and is specifically aimed at female postdoctoral researchers at the University of Passau. The workshop will be held in German.
Following the online workshop, participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of one-on-one mentoring (60 minutes per participant) with Susanne Geu; details to follow.
Strategic career coaching for postdoctoral researchers offers individual support in clarifying professional goals and developing suitable career options. It helps you make informed decisions and shape your own career path in a targeted and confident manner.

Depending on the available budget, each participant can take advantage of up to three coaching sessions.
The workshop programme for early-career female researchers with PhDs at the University of Passau is specifically tailored to their particular needs in the postdoctoral phase. It supports them in further developing their subject-specific, interdisciplinary and strategic skills and in consciously planning their next career steps.

Would you like to make your research visible online but aren’t sure which social media channel is right for you? Are you motivated to network digitally both within and outside your scientific community but unsure of the steps involved? LinkedIn, Mastodon, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, ResearchGate, or ORCID - with so many platforms, your head is spinning trying to figure out which ones you really need? In the “Spread Your Science” self-marketing workshop, you’ll learn how to develop your own personal visibility strategy! You’ll also optimize a profile of your choice and learn what matters most when writing a social media post. The workshop will be held in German.
Susanne Geu is an expert in digital science communication and a visibility mentor. Since 2016, she has helped over 1,000 researchers become digitally visible through more than 100 workshops and coaching sessions. As a humanities scholar (with a Magister degree in Education and French and a Master’s degree in Science Marketing), she advises researchers at all career stages. Tailored information for young female doctoral graduates is important in order to support them during a crucial phase of their careers. After completing their doctorates, many face groundbreaking decisions both within and outside academia. Clearly presented and relevant content helps to identify opportunities, make informed decisions and confidently shape individual career paths. Our goal is to provide guidance, create transparency and facilitate access to funding opportunities, networks and perspectives.
- Call for Applications: The Female Science Talents Intensive Track goes into the next round in 2027! This one-year programme supports 20 talented women from all scientific disciplines in their personal and professional development. The program offers workshops and events, networking and exchange opportunities, mentoring and more. The application period runs from October 1 through November 15, 2026. - The interactive platform ‘sichtbar.sein.selbst.gestalten’ (be visible, shape yourself) was developed by an interdisciplinary team at Munich University of Applied Sciences as part of the BMBF-funded Prof:inSicht project. Here, female scientists can find research-based information to help them shape their visibility individually and authentically. Based on the individual goals and time resources of the scientist, numerous recommendations for action are provided. The best practice tips can be selected individually and downloaded in a clear handout. This service helps female scientists to understand visibility, overcome concerns and develop strategies for creating visibility. The platform has been very well received by the female scientists who have already tested it.
