In the THE World University Ranking 2026 , Passau once again finds itself amongst the top 30 percent worldwide and, despite a larger field of participants, has improved its ranking from the 601–800 band to the 601–650 band. The progress made in the categories Research environment, Research Quality and International Outlook have contributed significantly to this strong result.
In the GreenMetric Ranking, which assesses the sustainability performance of higher education institutions throughout the world, the University of Passau is even ranked amongst the top ten percent. Efforts towards a sustainable campus date back to the University’s founding and have been continuously developed ever since. More recent measures include the expansion of photovoltaic systems, initiatives to promote biodiversity, and urban gardening projects.
The results of the Bavarian Graduate Survey (BAS) are particularly pleasing: they show once again that the satisfaction levels of graduates from the University of Passau are higher than those at other Bavarian universities. This underlines the importance of continuously developing a high-quality, student-centred teaching and learning culture.
