Entrepreneurial thinking is now required in almost all professional and research fields: in companies, public institutions, and NGOs, as well as in academia and knowledge transfer. The Pathfinder programmes support participants in further developing their own ideas, better contextualising digital developments, and acquiring future‑oriented skills that are essential in an innovation‑driven world of work.

The Entrepreneurial Pathfinder is a two‑semester certificate programme (14 ECTS). It enables students to develop competencies at the intersection of entrepreneurship, digital trends, and entrepreneurial skills—regardless of their academic discipline or prior experience.

Within the programme, participants are supported in:

  • becoming familiar with and applying entrepreneurial thinking and action
  • understanding and critically assessing current digital trends and technologies
  • strengthening future skills such as creativity, problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork
  • meaningfully combining courses offered by different faculties
  • expanding their network within the university’s innovation ecosystem
  • visibly enhancing their application or professional profile through an accredited certificate

The Advanced Pathfinder builds on the regular programme and deepens participants’ experience through regional networking by taking part in an event organised by the GründungsHUB Ostbayern. These events usually take place at a partner higher‑education institution. Participants are responsible for organising and covering their own travel‑related expenses (e.g. public transport, rail travel, and, where applicable, accommodation).

Added value of the Advanced format:
additional insights into the regional start‑up and innovation ecosystem, exchange with relevant stakeholders, and new points of contact for projects, collaborations, or the development of a knowledge‑transfer idea.

  1. Pillar: Entrepreneurship Strategy for High‑Tech Startups
  2. Pillar: Trends Introduction to Media Psychology
  3. Pillar: Entrepreneurial Skills 5€ Business Plan Competition

To complete the Entrepreneurial Pathfinder, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

  • 4–5 ECTS credits per pillar, resulting in a total of at least 14 ECTS credits
  • Up to 10 ECTS credits may be credited from your regular degree programme
  • At least 4–5 ECTS credits must be earned in a course that
    • is not part of your degree programme, and
    • is offered by a different faculty
  • Completion within two semesters

For the Advanced Pathfinder, the following additional requirement applies:

  • Participation in a GründungsHUB Ostbayern (GHO) event

Suitable courses offered by the University of Passau may be selected, provided they can be thematically assigned to one of the three pillars and meet the programme requirements.
If a course is not listed, a brief justification explaining how the course content relates to a specific pillar is sufficient. The programme team will review the request for recognition and provide feedback in a timely manner.
An illustrative selection of courses, as well as information on events organised by the GründungsHUB Ostbayern, can be found here.
