Nature and Environment

Green campus

The campus is located directly on the banks of the river Inn and adjoins an SAC (Special Area of Conservation). The University attaches great importance to maintaining the green spaces in a natural way and refrains from using pesticides. In addition, it relies on drought-resistant plant varieties as well as native woody plants and flowering areas that provide habitats for a wide range of species.

Flower meadows

Wildflower meadows are vibrant oases of biodiversity that provide habitat and food for bees, butterflies, and other insects. Their natural composition promotes soil health, enhances water retention, and reduces erosion. As a sustainable measure in environmental and nature conservation, they contribute to the preservation of plant species. Additionally, they create a lively, blooming environment for students and staff on campus. Currently, we have three wildflower meadows at the Innwiese, near the Audimax, and behind the IM. The plan is to gradually expand these across the campus.
