Both universities have enjoyed excellent long-standing ties, which have led to a number of student exchanges and research collaborations in numerous fields. President Jungwirth expressed her delight that the University's 'partnership with this excellent university will now be further strengthened and bring highly talented students with an interest in computer science to Passau.'
Ecole Supérieure des Communications de Tunis (SUPCOM) was founded in 1998 and has since grown into Tunisia's leading university in the field of communications. 'Every year we welcome 18 exchange students from Tunis, who are a great enrichment to our campus community', said Vice President for International Relations Ursula Reutner. The Vice President thanked Professor Harald Kosch (Chair of Distributed Systems), Professor Joachim Posegga (Chair of IT Security) and Professor Bernhard Stahl (Professor of International Politics) personally for their efforts and dedication to maintaining great relations between both universities. She said, 'The planned double degree programme enables us to provide systematic support for my colleagues' work and give it a wider platform, thereby ensuring that more students from both sides will have the opportunity to benefit from our partnership in future.'
