Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments: no full application for Passau
On 29 September, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) announced the decision of the international panel of experts on the draft proposals submitted in the Cluster of Excellence funding line of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. A total of 195 initiatives were submitted. The University of Passau submitted the cluster "CyberSpaces: Discourse, Co-creation and Institutions in the Age of Digitisation", but was not part of the group of applicants which have now been invited by the DFG to submit a full application.
"The University of Passau can nonetheless be very proud of the fact that we are one of the universities that succeeded in combining all of its strengths for participation in the Excellence Strategy", said University President Prof. Dr. Carola Jungwirth. She added that the university continues to be convinced of the scientific significance of "Cyber<>Spaces". "We will now make every effort to use the results of the application for new projects, such as for special research areas or research training groups."
The president thanked all of the scientists and staff members who contributed to the creation of the draft proposal for "Cyber<>Spaces": "Our joint commitment has significantly advanced our ability to mount large-scale projects and demonstrated our potential."
