Colloquium: "Dreams, Hopes, and Utopias in Literature, Writings, Film, and Art by Roma and Sinti in Europe"

The two-day colloquium (6-7 March 2026) brings together scholars from Europe and North America working in the fields of literature, visual arts and performing arts. Under the theme "Dreams, Hopes and Utopias in Literature, Writings, Films and Art by Roma and Sinti in Europe", research findings will be exchanged in a series of engaging lectures and a theoretical framework for interpreting the works of Romani authors and artists will be developed.

The programme also includes a reading and concert by French Roma flamenco guitarist and writer Miguel Haler, as well as contributions from Amenza Ketane (with Hojda Stojka), Simona Anozie and Samuel Mago.

Accompanying the conference, an exhibition on the life and work of Austrian Roma artist and Holocaust survivor Ceija Stojka will be held at the University Library from 28 February to 26 March 2026.

More information about the programme can be found on the website of the Chair of Romance Literature.
