Prof. Dr. Elisabetta Cecconi is Associate Professor of English Language, Translation and Linguistics at the University of Florence (Italy), where she teaches English Political Linguistics for the BA in Political Sciences and English Language and Linguistics for the BA in Languages, Literatures and Intercultural Studies. She was a Visiting Professor at the Adam Mickiewicz

University, Poznań (Poland) in 2024 and at the University of Malta in 2025.

 

Current research focus:

Her research focuses on historical news discourse, with particular attention to persuasion, ideology, discursive othering, and power relations. She has published widely on news and courtroom discourse in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century British and American contexts.

Her current work examines gender relations in eighteenth-century British and Colonial American letters to the editor using corpus-assisted discourse studies (CADS).
