How can I get my place on the degree programme of my choice?
In terms of the direct application process, there are two types of undegraduate degree programmes:
- access restricted degree programmes (i.e. there is a cap on the number of students who can enrol each year)
- unrestricted degree programmes (i.e. all applicants who meet the requirements can enrol each year)

Doctoral study

Enrolment for doctoral students
If you have already been accepted as a doctoral student a the University of Passau, you have the option to enrol and obtain a student card. Please see the doctoral students' enrolment page for more information.

The following undergraduate programmes do not have restrictions on new student numbers during the current application cycle:

- Bachelor International Cultural and Business Studies
- Bachelor Language and Text Sciences
- Bachelor Legal Tech
- Bachelor Mathematics
- Bachelor Media and Communication
- Bachelor Secondary Education
- Law undergraduate programme
- Teacher training programme for primary education (the decision for admission restriction is still pending)
- Teacher training programme for secondary education (Mittelschule)
- Teacher training programme for secondary education (Realschule)
- Teacher training programme for secondary education (Gymnasium)
Prospective students who are entitled to apply directly (without using uni-assist) can secure their place of study on an unrestricted undergraduate programme by enrolling themselves, provided they meet all requirements.
Access restricted degree programmes
The following undergraduate programmes have restrictions on new student numbers during the current application cycle:
- Bachelor Digital Transformation in Business and Society
- Bachelor Journalism and Strategic Communication
- Teacher training programme for primary education (the decision for admission restriction is still pending)
Prospective students who are entitled to apply directly (without using uni-assist) can obtain a place of study on an access restricted undergraduate programme by submitting an application before the applicable deadline.
