KliniKas – successful second networking meeting between the University and the University Hospital
An intensive exchange of expertise characterised the second networking meeting between the University of Passau and Passau University Hospital as part of the Medical Campus Lower Bavaria (MCN). Organised by Professor Dr Tomas Sauer (University of Passau), Professor Dr Harald Kosch (University of Passau) and Professor Dr Matthias Wettstein (Passau University Hospital), the event brought together representatives from academia, clinical practice and research.

At the centre of the evening at the end of December were two specialist lectures that shed light on current topics of medical and societal relevance. Dr med. Klaus Gerauer, senior physician in bariatric surgery at Passau University Hospital, gave a practice-oriented insight into modern approaches to the treatment of and surgery for obesity. This was followed by Prof. Dr Hans-Georg Dederer, Chair of Constitutional and Administrative Law, Public International Law, European and International Economic Law at the University of Passau, who offered an informative look behind the scenes of the German Ethics Council and explained its working methods as well as the current topic of neurotechnology.
The event underlined the potential of collaboration between university research and clinical practice as part of the MCN. During the informal networking, participants took the opportunity to deepen contacts and develop new ideas for cooperation.
The KliniKas format once again proved to be an important platform for interdisciplinary networking and knowledge transfer. The next event in this format will take place in the summer semester 2026.
