International Interdisciplinary Workshop: "Moral Panics, Communication Networks and Polarization"

The Chair of Development Politics invites all interested students and scholars to an exciting international workshop on February 20–21, 2026, at the University of Passau.

This international workshop examines moral panics as key mechanisms of polarization across political, cultural, and media contexts, including Germany, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe. Bringing together scholars from communication studies, political science, and sociology, the workshop adopts a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective and discusses methodological approaches such as network analysis, discourse analysis, and framing analysis.

Interested students and researchers are warmly invited to participate in the public sessions of the program. Further information can be found on the flyer or on the website. Registration takes place via the Google Form document (QR code).
