Staff from foreign companies and organisations can also be invited to German higher education institutions for teaching purposes.
Detailed information on the application procedure can be obtained from Stefanie Dallmeier during a personal interview. Please make an appointment. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis.
Please note: All necessary documents must be submitted no later than 6 weeks before departure!
Staff mobility must take place in a program country or partner country which is neither the country of the sending higher education institution (except incoming mobility) nor the country of the main residence of the person concerned.
For teaching purposes, university personnel from a German higher education institution with ECHE may be sent to a receiving university with ECHE (outgoing mobility). Staff from another institution based in another programme country (incoming mobility), working in the labor market or in the fields of education, training or youth, may be invited to a German higher education institution with ECHE for teaching purposes.
Erasmus+ funding is available for 2 to 60 consecutive days. Funding for arrival and departure days will be regulated in the grant agreement. A mobility for teaching purposes must include at least eight teaching hours in the first week (even for shorter stays). If the mobility lasts longer than one week, the minimum number of teaching hours for an incomplete week must be calculated proportionally to the duration of the respective incomplete week (formula: 8 hours / 5 days x number of additional days).
The accommodation costs, including accommodation allowance, depend on the number of days spent at the receiving institution plus, if necessary, an additional day for arrival and departure. The unit cost per day depends on the destination country and the length of stay; from the 15th day onwards the rate is reduced.
Country groups according to funding rates in project 2023 (Ends in 2026):
The travel expenses are calculated based on distance as the crow flies determined with the European Commission Distance Calculator and are reimbursed as follows:
Distance | Conventional income | Eco-friendly traveling |
---|---|---|
10 - 99 km | 23 EUR | |
100 - 499 km | 180 EUR | 210 EUR |
500 - 1.999 km | 275 EUR | 320 EUR |
2.000 - 2.999 km | 360 EUR | 410 EUR |
3.000 - 3.999 km | 530 EUR | 610 EUR |
4.000 - 7.999 km | 820 EUR | |
8.000 km and more: | 1.500 EUR |
The total amount is calculated from the travel costs plus the unit costs multiplied by the number of days spent abroad. For green travel (e.g., Interrail), up to four additional travel days can also be subsidized. Ideally, the money is paid in advance and only confirmed with the business travel statement.
Please remember to settle your business expenses within 45 days of your return from abroad; otherwise your entitlement to funding will lapse.
As part of the Erasmus exchange between the University of Urbino (Italy) and the University of Passau, Professor Christoph Barmeyer was invited by Professor Claus Ehrhardt, Dipartimento di Scienze della Comunicazione, Studi Umanistici e Internazionali (DISCUI), to visit the University of Urbino Carlo-Bo, Italy, from 23 to 29 March 2025. The university was founded in 1506 and is one of the oldest universities in Europe. It is home to 10 faculties and is known for teaching and research in sports sciences, humanities, biology and computer science and has a large language centre. The university currently has 15,000 students.
Professor Barmeyer gave several lectures in German and French on intercultural topics to students on the Master's programme ‘Lingue Moderne e Interculturalità’.
During his stay, he not only had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the students and promote the University of Passau and the mutual Erasmus exchange programme, but also to talk to Italian and foreign colleagues. Further cooperation is planned with Claus Ehrhardt in the area of the intercultural Master's programme ‘Eurocampus’, which is offered once a year for students from different European universities at a partner university and offers an exceptional opportunity to combine intercultural content and experience.
The photos show Prof Ehrhardt and Prof Barmeyer, Prof Barmeyer and the International Office, Lucia Bartolucci, Giulia Rilli, Cristina Galluccio, the university, the old town and the Palazzo Ducale, a Renaissance palace that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
