Accessible campus

Please click on “Show map” and zoom in closer to the campus.

Clicking on the symbols explains where the wheelchair ramps, lifts, wheelchair-accessible toilets and disabled parking spaces are located. You will also see a wheelchair-accessible path across the campus.

In almost all buildings of the University there are first aid rooms, some of which are equipped with a recovery couch and can also be used as quiet rooms, and disabled toilets.

If you have any special needs, please contact the Student Disabilites Officer.

A total of 14 disabled parking spaces are available on campus for those with the relevant permit. These may be used freely by people with disabilities.

Students who are not entitled to a parking space by definition may still, in exceptional cases, receive a parking permit. This is possible, for example, for registered disabled persons whose mobility is limited and for students who are caring for a child with disabilities or who has not yet reached the age of ten at the beginning of the relevant semester. Please submit your application online to the Buildings and Estates Service Office and provide the necessary supporting documents.

If you encounter any difficulties or have additional questions, please contact the Student Disabilities Officer, Dr Ulrike Bunge, in room JUR 014 (Juridicum Building), phone: +49 851 509 1151, e-mail: ulrike.bunge@uni-passau.de.

The University Library (UB) endeavours to enable people with disabilities to use its collections and services largely independently and provides detailed information on barrier-free services at the UB:

  • extended lending of the reading room stock
  • readers for people with visual impairments
  • low-stimulus desks
  • standing desks and
  • loanable table stands for height adjustment

Lecture theatres 9 and 10 in the Audimax Building and lecture theatres 5, 7 and 8 in the Business/Economics Building are fitted with induction loops. People with hearing aids can connect directly to them and in this way achieve significantly improved sound.

The Student Services Association for Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate (STWNO) is responsible for managing the student halls of residence. It aims to ensure that students with a disability or chronic illness can benefit from publicly subsidised, affordable housing. When allocating accommodation, certain circumstances are given special consideration, including financial need, disability or chronic illness.

In Passau, ten places are reserved specifically for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Two of these are located in the Donau-Schwaben-Strasse halls, and eight are in the Leonhard-Paminger-Strasse halls.

Donau-Schwaben-Strasse 14–24

This hall contains two 2-person shared flats. Each flat features a level-access shower and a kitchen unit with space underneath for wheelchair access. Due to the layout of the grounds, the hall is of limited suitability for students with mobility impairments. Car parking spaces are available.

Leonhard-Paminger-Strasse 27

On the top two floors of building 27, there are eight en-suite rooms, each with a level-access shower and grab rails. Each floor has a spacious communal kitchen with a kitchen unit that allows wheelchair access underneath. Car parking spaces are available. The building has an external lift, which provides barrier-free access to the whole communal area and helps students with disabilities take part in community life.

For halls of residence without purpose-built facilities, the STWNO looks for individual solutions on a case-by-case basis. The Student Housing and Student Welfare Advice departments are available to support affected students.
