'The University's guiding principle is to foster excellence in research and establish outstanding working conditions, particularly for students and early career researchers. Our excellent ranking with regard to the quality of education at the University of Passau confirms that we are on exactly the right track and delivering on our promise to provide comprehensive education through science', said University President, Carola Jungwirth.
The THE University Impact Ranking, carried out for the first time this year, evaluates the efforts with regard to the UN goals for sustainable development. The indicators in this ranking draw attention to the so-called 'Third Mission', i.e. the engagement of academic institutions with business and society, and to the University as a role model for good working conditions, compliance with equality and diversity standards, and ecologically-oriented action.
The 17 UN sustainable development goals include 'Quality Education', 'Decent Work and Economic Growth', 'Gender Equality', 'Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure' and 'Climate Action'. In the category 'Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions', the University of Passau was also able to position itself among the top 100, thanks in particular to the excellent range of study options offered in law and political science.
In the overall ranking of all recorded sustainability criteria, the University comes in at a strong top-third of the more than 500 participating universities, in the 101–200 ranking group.
