This presentation provides a review of major health policies and reforms in the healthcare system and trends in population health in Iran during the last decades. The presentation also provides some evidence of how intensified sanctions affected these efforts and modified the trends in population health mainly through deteriorated macroeconomic conditions, increased living costs, reduced public health funding and less access to quality care.
