For several years, the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics has offered a double master's programme in computer science with the HSE Moscow, one of Russia's leading universities. The mathematics programme taught on HSE’s Nizhny Novgorod campus features a focus on dynamic systems, and therefore harmonises perfectly with Passau's M.Sc. Computational Mathematics programme in terms of content. The University of Passau used this opportunity to establish a joint double master's programme in mathematics, thereby further deepening academic co-operation with HSE Moscow.
This programme allows students from Passau to study at Nizhny Novgorod, Russia's fifth-largest city, for one year and vice-versa. Those successfully completing the programme gain a master's degree in mathematics from each university according to precise curricular regulations. 'This gives our students the chance to gain important international exposure while receiving top-notch education in mathematics – and we at Passau are looking forward to welcoming students from Russia, who are traditionally very strong in mathematics and the natural sciences', said Professor Tobias Kaiser (Chair of Pure Mathematics at the University of Passau).
The application deadline for this programme, which is set to commence in winter semester 2019–20, is 28 February 2019.
