As part of the master's programme in Governance and Public Policy, the University of Passau offers the opportunity to participate in a German-Slovenian cooperation with the University of Ljubljana, which includes the option of pursuing a double degree. This cooperation integrates the M.A. Governance and Public Policy programme offered by the University of Passau and the master's degree programmes in International Relations or European Studies offered by the University of Ljubljana.
Participating in this double degree pathway gives you the chance to earn two degrees in just four semesters, study for a year at our renowned partner university and gain valuable professional, intercultural and international experience and competencies. As you gain first-hand knowledge of the distinct education systems of both universities and countries, you will have the opportunity to specialise in the main research areas accordingly.
After successfully completing the double degree, you will receive a master's degree from both partner universities.

If you participate in this double degree pathway, you will spend your first year of study at the University of Passau. The third and optional fourth semester is then spent studying at the University of Ljubljana. You will write your master's thesis in the fourth semester. You have a choice whether you wish to be supervised at your home university or jointly by both universities.
A total of five places are available in the double master's pathway, which are divided between the M.A. International Relations (two places) and M.A. European Studies (three places). A selection is carried out on the basis of your academic performance and motivation.
The application for the double master's pathway must be submitted to together with your application for the M.A. Governance and Public Policy programme. This must reach the University on 15 July of each year at the very latest.

After conclusion of the formal admission process for the M.A. Governance and Public Policy programme, candidates are selected by the programme convenors.
