First Networking Meeting Between University and Hospital

The event was launched with two specialist lectures: a presentation from the clinical field by Prof. Dr. Silke Härteis (University of Regensburg) titled "Translational Medicine - Individualized Precision Medicine" and an academic contribution by Prof. Dr. Tomas Sauer (University of Passau) titled "Mathematics and EEG - The Music in the Brain." The lively discussions and numerous contributions following both presentations provided a good starting point for further exchange.

Afterwards, participants took the opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere, deepen existing contacts, and establish new connections. The positive response to the meeting underscores the great potential for stronger networking between the university and hospital.

Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Wettstein, Medical Director of Passau Hospital, commented on the event: "The two scientific lectures by Prof. Sauer and Prof. Härteis have excellently demonstrated how basic research, clinical research, and patient care can be meaningfully networked in joint projects. For students and doctoral candidates, this can also result in scientific sub-projects that quickly lead to results."

As part of the Lower-Bavarian Medical Campus, the University of Passau contributes to the curriculum training of medical students and is responsible, among other things, for providing digital medical teaching content, which is of particular importance given the regional distribution of students across different locations. The cooperation between the University of Passau and Lower Bavarian hospitals, particularly with Passau Hospital and Passau Children's Hospital, is important for the successful implementation of the MCN.

Prof. Dr. Harald Kosch, Vice President for Academic Infrastructure and IT, emphasized the opportunities of interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists from all faculties at the University of Passau and research-oriented and experienced physicians at the hospital.

Under the title "KliniKas," the event is now to take place once each semester. All interested parties are cordially invited to participate in future networking meetings and to actively shape the collaboration between the university and hospital.
