Please use our personalised, interactive guide to find out how to apply.
The decisive factor for the application process is not your nationality, but the country in which you obtained your relevant university degree.
We cannot make any exceptions.
Whether or not you are already enrolled in a different degree programme is not relevant for the application process for this degree programme. All applicants who obtained their prior degree in a country outside the EEA (European Union + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) must apply via uni-assist.
We cannot make any exceptions.
Your application will only be processed if it is complete.
If you have not provided the required documents by the end of the application period, you will automatically receive a rejection notification.
Yes, a CV must be included with the application.
Any missing documents must be submitted by the application deadline.
The only exceptions are the German language certificate and your final Bachelor’s degree certificate, which can be submitted within the first year of your studies.
Admission requires a minimum of 60 ECTS credits in business/economics or business-related subjects, including a minimum of 10 ECTS credits in business-related methods (such as mathematics and statistics).
If your Bachelor's degree does not meet this requirement, you will not be admitted to the Master's programme.
No, you have to meet the credit requirements by the application deadline.
No, we do not do any pre-screening of applications. We will check the credit requirements once you have applied, and only if your application is otherwise complete (e.g. GMAT scores and English language proof have been submitted).
Any other Master’s degrees are irrelevant for admission to this Master’s programme. Only your prior Bachelor’s degree is taken into account.
The GMAT is only mandatory for applicants who have obtained their Bachelor’s degree in a country that is not a signatory state to the Lisbon Convention.
You can check whether the country where you earned your bachelor's degree is a signatory state of the Lisbon Convention (e.g. all 46 member states of the Council of Europe inclunding the European Union, Türkiye, UK, Switzerland, and other states, such as Australia, Canada, Israel, Kazakhstan and USA).
No, you do not need to submit a GMAT score when applying.
This depends on whether you have obtained your bachelor’s degree in a country that is a signatory state of the Lisbon Convention. This also includes several states outside of the European Union, such as all 46 member states of the Council of Europe (which includes, e.g., Türkiye, UK or Switzerland), and others such as Australia, USA, Canada, Israel and Kazakhstan.
You only need to submit your GMAT score at the time of application if your degree was obtained in a country that has neither signed nor ratified the Lisbon Convention, e.g. India, Nigeria, Pakistan or Tunesia.
Yes. If you are required to submit a GMAT test score, your score must be submitted by the application deadline. Your application will not be processed if you have not submitted a GMAT score. No exceptions can be made.
Your nationality is irrelevant. What matters is in which country you have obtained your relevant bachelor’s degree.
If you have obtained your bachelor’s degree in the European Union/a member state or a state that has either signed or ratified the Lisbon Convention, you do not need to submit a GMAT score.
Specifically, if you obtained your bachelor's degree in the USA or UK, you do not need a GMAT, but you have to apply via uni-assist.
Applicants who have not obtained their prior university degree in a state that has either signed or ratified the Lisbon Convention must additionally submit a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) test result with a score of at least 600 points (10th Edition) or 565 points (Focus Edition). This test result must be available at the time of application.
If you need a GMAT according to the rules, a GMAT score of at least at least 565 points is required (or 600 Points in the older GMAT Version offered until January 2024).
No, the University of Passau only accepts the GMAT with the specified minimum score: 565 points. This test result must be available at the time of application.
Other tests (e.g. GRE) are not recognised.
The university is registered with GMAC. Please select the university and programme on the GMAC portal (programme code: CG1-D8-31). Your score will then be transmitted electronically to us.
Please note that screenshots or other documents cannot be accepted.
We only accept the GMAT, no other tests.
No, the GMAT requirement cannot be waived or replaced.
Good grades, professional experience, or other qualifications do not serve as substitutes for the GMAT.
You need a recognised language certificate in English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
If English was the language of instruction of your first degree, you do not need to submit an English certificate. However, you need to provide a certificate confirming English being the language of instruction.
Yes, the certificate of English language proficiency must be provided at the time of application.
To postpone your admission to the next semester, please apply for the next semester directly in the campus portal. It is not necessary to create a new account in the campus portal if your account is still active. For the new application, please upload your old letter of admission to the campus portal.
If you are unable to submit your application in the campus portal and are asked to apply via uni-assist, you do not have to do this. Instead, please send an e-mail with your new applicant number and the keyword “Application for a new letter of admission” to registry@uni-passau.de. We will then process your application and you will receive your new letter of admission as soon as possible.
