Bavarian funding programmes are characterised by:
The University of Passau's procedure for applying for and accepting funding: Applications within the framework of funding programmes in the field of research (research funding procedure) dated 8 January 2025, as amended on 23 July 2025, must be followed.
This procedure replaced the former R&D procedure for research and education projects from 2010, i.e. for funding from federal and state ministries, the German Research Foundation (DFG), the EU, foundations, etc.
For the area of economic activities/contract research, the second part of the R&D procedure continues to apply. This procedure is currently undergoing a fundamental revision.
Your first point of contact for inquiries is Dr. Kerstin Theis, Head of Division III – Research Services.

Through its BayIntAn programme, the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) awards travel grants and subsistence allowances of up to €10,000 to facilitate the establishment of international research collaborations. Applications are open to professors and postdoctoral researchers.
Applications must be submitted via Tina Ochmann, Section III/1 – International Research Funding, which is also responsible for obtaining the signature of the University Executive.
