What does it mean to be disadvantaged and discriminated against because of cultural differences or to feel even shocked because of a habitualized way of not meeting each other eye to eye on a level playing field? Often people do not have the opportunity to learn more about the root causes, the hidden structures, some are even all along their lives traumatized and re-traumatized and carry this burden, which robs energy and joy in life. Others are able to feel it clearly, but cannot address the backgrounds and the privileges of others adequately enough. What strategies can effectively strengthen a person in the case of racist experiences? What advantages critical whiteness has to offer? What empowering maxims of action are there for those affected? How and with whom do we connect personally and politically so as not to stand alone any longer?
This workshop opens up the space to exchange personal experiences with racism, provides strategies for personal resilience and encourages a brighter future! Black lives matter – and we will not come forth with effective alternatives if white awarenesss is not flourishing.
