In the fourth year of the Impact Ranking survey, it is also clear that the "third mission" is playing an increasingly important role. After growth rates of 50 percent in the preceding two years, the number of participating universities has now increased again by almost 30 per cent. In the overall ranking of all criteria recorded, the University of Passau remains in the 401-600 group. In view of the large increase in participants, this result is very pleasing and stems from the fact that the University's sustainability strategy, as well as the way in which it is realised, received an even higher overall score than in 2021.
"The fact that the University of Passau's redoubled sustainability efforts in research, teaching and in the day-to-day running of the University are being noticed is starting to find reflection in the relevant ranking results", said Professor Werner Gamerith, the member of the University Executive charged with quality management and sustainability. "The University of Passau has the potential for a steady further development of sustainable parameters, not least due to its energy technology benchmarks and its urban architectural appearance, and is definitely one of the pioneers in this regard among German universities."
