Passau can be conveniently reached by train – including international long-distance trains – and car. The nearest airports are Munich and Linz (Austria), with train connections to Passau. Once you arrive in Passau, the University is just a short walk or bus-ride away. We provide you also with additional information about the accessibility on campus.

Turn right as you exit the railway station, then continue along Bahnhofstrasse until you reach the Ludwigsplatz square. Turn right to walk along the Dr.-Hans-Kapfinger-Strasse pedestrian zone (the Stadtgalerie shopping centre should be to your right). Keep walking until you pass the central tower ('Stadtturm'). Then turn left and traverse the park ('Klostergarten') diagonally until you reach the upper archway of the Nikolakloster building, which forms the main entrance to the University campus.
Bus services 8 and 9 ZOB – Kohlbruck/Erlebnisbad will take you to the University.

Leave the autobahn A3 at exit 'Passau Mitte' and, at the traffic lights, turn left in the direction of Passau. Follow the road for about one kilometre, then take the first exit right onto Pionierstrasse. Proceed along this road until you reach a T-junction, then turn left onto Neuburgerstrasse. Keep going straight along this street. After about 1.5 kilometres, when you reach the fifth set of traffic lights, turn right onto Leonhard-Paminger-Strasse and keep going until you reach the T-junction, where you should turn left onto Innstrasse. You will see the University buildings come up on your right and left as you continue along Innstrasse.

Onward journey by train: Train tickets can be purchased at the ticket machines in the Airport Centre (MAC), located on Level 03. For railway connections between Passau and Munich airport, visit the Deutsche Bahn website.
Onward journey by car: via autobahn A92 Landshut – Passau.
Onward journey by train: Take the shuttle bus to Hörsching Railway Station ('Bahnhof Hörsching'), then take the Hörsching – Wels – Passau train.
Onward journey by car: Via autobahn A25/A8 in the direction of Passau. This is a toll road – please make sure you have the correct toll sticker ('Vignette') attached to your windscreen before you enter the autobahn. Toll stickers can be purchased from most filling stations.
The airports in Nürnberg (NUE) and Vienna (VIE) can also be reached fairly easily from Passau. However, these generally require tickets for high speed / long distance trains, which are more costly when bought on the day of travel or as flexible tickets. You can travel to and from all other German airports, like Frankfurt (FRA), Leipzig/Halle (LEJ) or Berlin (BER) with Rail&Fly Tickets, if your chosen airline offers them.
