What is it about?

Germany's prospective teachers work in an increasingly globalized environment. Teachers must be able to contextualize global developments and their impact on society based on their own experiences and convey relevant content in a professional and authentic manner. Prospective teachers should also be enabled to deal with the increasing international and cultural diversity in German schools.

International experience and intercultural knowledge help them to design their lessons in the best possible way. However, it is not always possible for all teacher training students to spend time abroad. It is therefore important to create opportunities for international and intercultural exchange and communication with peers in their own country, which enable reflection and place their own professionalization process as teachers in a global context.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS can make a valuable contribution to the internationalization of Bavarian teachers.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for international students who completed their school education
OUTSIDE Germany and would like to share their educational experiences with other students,
especially teacher training students.

This project will:

  • offer prospective Bavarian teachers the opportunity to engage in presentations by international students
  • provide a space for discussions about international education and exchange in English (as the lingua franca of international education)
  • promote intercultural awareness and transcultural skills through peer-to-peer encounters and opportunities for joint reflection

Recognition procedure

If you would like to have your Service Learning recognized as part of your degree program, e.g., as a practical project, please contact the program coordinator responsible for you at GeKuF or SoBiF in advance to discuss the recognition options and implementation.

Additionally, speak with the course instructor in advance about the modalities. The duration of the Service Learning must be confirmed by the course instructor and the AYCD program (AYCD Pass).

In any case, a report of the same length as the regular internship report must be submitted, in which you reflect on your insights and experiences according to common academic standards.

Important Note: AYCD only acts as a "mediating agency" and does NOT award ECTS credits but only a volunteer certificate. The AYCD Kick-Off and Final Event can be included in the completed hour quota.
